DataTel Acquires Genuine Technology: A Major Step in Expanding IT Managed Services
I’m thrilled to share that as of October 1st, DataTel has acquired Genuine Technology, an IT managed service provider based in Portland, Oregon. This marks a significant step forward in DataTel’s journey of delivering cutting-edge IT and telecommunication services.
For over 62 years, DataTel has been a trusted name in telephony, complex networking, and carrier/ISP management, serving Idaho and the Pacific Northwest. When I took ownership of DataTel in June 2023, I quickly realized after hearing our clients’ ongoing challenges and horror stories relating to their experiences with low-quality IT & cybersecurity providers, there was both a need and an opportunity for us to fill this massive gap.
We sought out a partner who could bring the technical expertise. Genuine Technology, with its outstanding reputation and shared values, was the perfect match. Ernest Murry, founder of Genuine Technology, is joining DataTel as CISO (Chief Information Security Officer) and will lead all things security.
The most exciting aspect is the expanded capabilities we can now offer. We’re growing our team of engineers, investing in new technologies, and enhancing our combined expertise to boost our clients’ productivity & profitability while maintaining the premier, leading-edge security that clients desperately need for their operations’ peace of mind. We’re now a true one-stop shop.

On a personal note, I’m particularly excited about this merger because it allows us to combine forces in a way that truly benefits our clients. Genuine Technology had been pushing to break through growth barriers, and now, with our partnership, we have the resources and reach to elevate their solutions to new heights. The acquisition adds thousands of endpoints under management and some amazing clients in high-security verticals that require stringent security measures, including manufacturing, healthcare, energy and utilities, professional services, government, and much more.
We are well underway with our integration, which we expect to be fully complete before the end of 2024. The collective team is beyond excited at this next phase of our growth journey.
